The short version

J.P. Morgan Personal Investing is what Nutmeg became. J.P. Morgan bought Nutmeg in 2021 and retired the Nutmeg brand on 3 November 2025. The service works the same way: you choose an investment style, and the portfolio is built and managed for you. It offers a Stocks & Shares ISA, Lifetime ISA, Junior ISA, personal pension (SIPP) and general investment account.

You pay one service fee instead of dealing charges: 0.75% a year on the first £100,000 in the managed styles and 0.35% above that, or 0.45% then 0.25% for Fixed Allocation. On £20,000 that is £150 a year before fund costs. The trade-off is cost against effort: you pay more than a self-directed platform's fee, and in return the portfolio is chosen and rebalanced for you.

Best for: People who want their investments chosen and managed for them, including in a Lifetime ISA or Junior ISA, and who prefer one percentage fee to dealing charges.

  • Worked example in a managed style: £20,000 costs £150 a year, £100,000 costs £750, and £150,000 costs £925 (£750 on the first £100,000 plus £175 on the rest). Underlying fund costs and market spread come on top.
  • Underlying fund costs average about 0.18% (Fully Managed) to 0.39% (Income), so £20,000 in Fully Managed costs about £186 a year before market spread.

  • Lifetime ISA: opens from £100, and the government adds a 25% bonus on up to £4,000 a year, which is up to £1,000. The same service fee applies, so £5,000 (£4,000 plus the bonus) in a managed style costs £37.50 a year, plus fund costs.

Pros and cons

Where it wins

  • No set-up, exit or dealing charges: one service fee covers the management
  • Lifetime ISA and Junior ISA from £100, with the 25% government bonus on up to £4,000 a year in the LISA
  • Six investment styles, including Socially Responsible, Thematic and a lower-cost Fixed Allocation option
  • The fee drops to 0.35% (managed) or 0.25% (Fixed Allocation) on money above £100,000

Where it loses

  • Costs more than running the money yourself: £20,000 is £150 a year in a managed style, against £50 a year in platform fees for £20,000 in funds at AJ Bell
  • Underlying fund costs and market spread are charged on top of the service fee
  • You cannot choose your own funds or shares
  • No cash ISA, the ISA is not flexible, and moving holdings out in specie costs £20 per line of stock

Common mistakes people make with J.P. Morgan Personal Investing

Things that catch out new J.P. Morgan Personal Investing customers more than they should.

  • Searching for Nutmeg and assuming it has closed. It has not: Nutmeg accounts now sit under J.P. Morgan Personal Investing, and the fees and accounts on this page apply to them.
  • Comparing only the 0.75% headline. Underlying fund (ETF) costs and market spread are on top, so the total cost is higher than the service fee alone.
  • Expecting a flexible ISA. Money you withdraw cannot be paid back in without counting against that year's allowance again.
  • Treating the pension as accessible at any age. You can usually take money from a personal pension from 55, rising to 57 from 6 April 2028.

J.P. Morgan Personal Investing: common questions

What are the J.P. Morgan Personal Investing ISA fees?

The Stocks and Shares ISA uses the same service fee as every account. In the managed styles (Fully Managed, Socially Responsible, Thematic, Income and Smart Alpha) it is 0.75% a year on the first £100,000 and 0.35% above that, including VAT. Fixed Allocation costs 0.45%, then 0.25%. On a £20,000 ISA that is £150 a year managed, or £90 in Fixed Allocation. There are no set-up, dealing or exit charges. Fund costs and market spread come on top. Fees per the schedule effective 17 June 2025, checked 9 October 2026.

How much does the J.P. Morgan Personal Investing Lifetime ISA cost?

You can open a Lifetime ISA from £100, and the same service fee applies. Pay in £4,000 and the government adds £1,000, so you have £5,000 invested. At 0.75% that is £37.50 a year in service fees, plus fund costs. If you take money out for anything other than a first home, retirement from 60 or terminal illness, you pay a 25% withdrawal charge.

Does J.P. Morgan Personal Investing offer a Junior ISA, and what does it cost?

Yes. A Junior ISA opens from £100 and is charged under the same service fee schedule. A child's full £9,000 allowance in a managed style would cost £67.50 a year in service fees, plus fund costs.

What is the total cost including fund costs?

The service fee is not the whole cost. You also pay the underlying ETF charges and market spread. Average underlying fund charges were reported at about 0.18% for Fully Managed, 0.23% for Socially Responsible, 0.35% for Smart Alpha and 0.39% for Income (Moneytothemasses, 9 September 2026). So £20,000 in Fully Managed costs about £150 in service fees plus about £36 in fund costs, around £186 a year before spread.

Is J.P. Morgan Personal Investing the same as Nutmeg?

Yes. J.P. Morgan bought Nutmeg in 2021 and retired the Nutmeg brand on 3 November 2025. Nutmeg accounts moved to J.P. Morgan Personal Investing with no action needed. The ISA, Lifetime ISA, Junior ISA, pension and managed portfolios carried over.

What do J.P. Morgan Personal Investing reviews say?

On Trustpilot it scores 4.1 out of 5 ("Great") from 2,718 reviews, checked on 9 October 2026. Some reviews predate the rebrand and refer to Nutmeg.

Is my money protected?

J.P. Morgan Personal Investing is covered by the FSCS. If the firm cannot meet its obligations, eligible investors can claim up to the FSCS investment limit, currently £85,000. The FSCS does not cover falls in the value of your investments.

Does it offer a cash ISA or a flexible ISA?

There is no cash ISA. The Stocks and Shares ISA is not flexible, so money you withdraw still counts as used allowance for that tax year.
