What Moneybox actually costs over five years

The sticker price is the start of it. Here is what Moneybox adds up to over one, three and five years, plus the costs that never appear on a pricing page.

The five year number

Five years of Moneybox comes to about £284 on a flat £10,000 balance, being £57 of subscription and £225 of platform fee. Illustrations hold the balance flat at £10,000 to keep the arithmetic legible. A real balance that grows pays more platform fee in later years. Verified 21 July 2026.

Costs that are not on the price list

These do not show up when you sign up, but they show up on your statement.

  • Hidden cost: Fund provider charges sit on top and are taken from returns rather than billed
  • Hidden cost: A 0.45% currency conversion fee on US stock trades in each direction
  • Hidden cost: Fees are collected by selling down your largest holding at month end
  • Hidden cost: Moneybox keeps the interest rate difference on available cash rather than charging a visible fee
  • Hidden cost: The flat £1 a month is a very large percentage on a small balance

What you are paying for

For people starting to invest who want the round-up habit and a lifetime isa in the same app, that is a fair price. Properly UK: Cash ISA, Stocks and Shares ISA, Lifetime ISA, GIA and pension all in one place. Round-ups genuinely get people saving who otherwise would not.

A five year total always looks large written down. Judge it against what the tool actually changes, not against the headline on its own.

Plans and tiers

This page is about the running total. For the tier structure and what each plan includes, see Moneybox pricing.

The same five years on Delphina

Delphina's Free plan is £0 for as long as you want it, no card. Wealth Builder is £9.99 a month, so five years is £599.40 if you stay on it the whole time, billed in pounds with no FX fee.

Moneybox is a good place to actually hold a UK ISA or LISA, and Delphina is not a place to hold anything. If you want round-ups and a Lifetime ISA, use Moneybox. What it cannot do is look across every account you hold, model UK tax and pension rules over thirty years and tell you whether your contributions land you where you want to be. Plenty of people sensibly use both.

More on Moneybox

Moneybox: common questions

It is worth it for people starting to invest who want the round-up habit and a lifetime isa in the same app. It is a poor buy for anyone who needs the £1 monthly subscription is proportionally enormous on a small balance: £12 a year on £200 invested is 6%, because that is not what it is built to do.

A five year total is worth measuring against something

The point of paying for any of this is a better outcome. Delphina shows you what your pensions and ISAs are actually on course to do, so you can judge whether Moneybox is earning its fee.
