Quicken UK: Is There a UK Version in 2026?
No. Intuit stopped selling Quicken in the UK in 2005, and today Quicken is sold only in the US and Canada, so it will not connect to UK banks. If you searched "Quicken UK", you probably want to do one of three things: run US Quicken with a UK bank, rescue old data, or find a UK alternative. This page covers all three. Checked October 2026.
What happened to Quicken in the UK
Intuit stopped selling Quicken in the UK at the end of January 2005. UK telephone support ran until January 2006, and development continued only in the US and Canada. Intuit later sold Quicken to the private equity firm H.I.G. Capital in 2016, which sold it to Aquiline Capital Partners in 2021. Quicken today comes in two main forms, both sold for the US and Canada: Quicken Classic, desktop software you install, and Quicken Simplifi, a web and mobile app.
So if you have Quicken files on an old Windows or Mac machine, they come from a UK edition that has had no updates or support for around twenty years. If you have heard about Quicken from a US writer or friend, the version they mean is not built for UK banks, pounds or UK tax wrappers such as ISAs and pensions.
Can UK users run US Quicken or Quicken Simplifi?
Not with UK bank accounts. Quicken says it is available to buy and use only in the US and Canada, and its bank connections are built around US and Canadian institutions. UK banks such as Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, NatWest, Santander, First Direct and Monzo cannot be linked.
Quicken Simplifi has the same limit. Quicken says Simplifi supports the United States and Canada, in US or Canadian dollars, and only one currency at a time. A UK reader would have to type every balance and transaction in by hand, in dollars.
Most comparison pages skip this part. Before asking whether Quicken is better than another app, ask whether it works with your UK accounts at all. For a UK reader with UK bank accounts, it does not.
How to export your old Quicken data
If you have a copy of the old UK Quicken on your computer, the data files are still readable. Quicken's native format is QDF (Quicken Data File). You can export your transactions to either QIF (Quicken Interchange Format, a plain-text export) or CSV (a comma-separated file that opens in Excel, Numbers, Google Sheets, or any modern personal finance app that supports CSV import).
Older versions of Quicken can export transactions as a QIF file from the File menu, usually under Export. The exact menu names vary by version. Pick the date range and accounts, then save the file somewhere safe. Check that the app you are moving to accepts QIF before relying on it: many current apps, including Monarch Money, import CSV only. CSV is the more widely accepted format, though it can lose some category detail. Reports can usually be saved or copied into a spreadsheet as CSV.
If you no longer have access to the original software, recovering the data without Quicken installed is much harder. The QDF format is proprietary. Some UK accountants and data recovery firms offer Quicken file conversion as a paid service.
UK alternatives to Quicken in 2026
Three kinds of tool cover most of what UK readers used Quicken for.
- Budgeting apps built in the UK. Emma and Snoop, for example, connect to UK banks through Open Banking and categorise your spending in pounds.
- Register-style software that works more like old Quicken: you keep a ledger of every transaction yourself.
- A personal financial clarity platform such as Delphina, which links UK accounts and adds pensions, investments and forecasting.
For the register-style options, see our Quicken and Simplifi alternatives guide, which covers YNAB, Moneydance, BankTree and GnuCash. For the two UK budgeting apps side by side, see Emma vs Snoop.
Which one fits depends on what you used Quicken for. If it was reconciling every transaction, a register-style tool is the closest match. If it was seeing where your money goes each month, a budgeting app is. If it was knowing whether your whole position adds up, including pensions, you need something that sees beyond the current account.
Quicken vs Monarch Money for UK readers
Neither works with UK bank accounts. Monarch Money is often suggested as a Quicken replacement, but Monarch says it is available in the US and Canada only and recommends connecting accounts in US or Canadian dollars. Quicken is also limited to the US and Canada. So for a UK reader the choice between them changes nothing: neither will link a UK bank, show your money in pounds or recognise an ISA or pension. The full head-to-head is in our Monarch vs Quicken Simplifi comparison, and Monarch's UK position is covered in detail in our Monarch Money UK guide.
If you are moving off old UK Quicken, the useful question is not which US app to pick. It is which UK-built tool matches the job Quicken used to do for you, which the section above sets out.

Where does this leave you?
If you have old Quicken data, export it to QIF and CSV this month, before the machine it lives on stops working. Then use the alternatives above to match a tool to the job Quicken used to do for you.
If the bigger question is whether your overall position is on track, Delphina links your UK accounts, pensions and investments in one place and shows where they are heading. Free to start.
