What Wealthify actually costs over five years

The sticker price is the start of it. Here is what Wealthify adds up to over one, three and five years, plus the costs that never appear on a pricing page.

The five year number

Five years of Wealthify comes to about £370 on a £10,000 Original plan held flat. The worked figures hold the portfolio flat at £10,000 for clarity. In reality the fee is taken monthly on the current value, so it rises as the pot grows and falls when it shrinks. An Ethical plan on the same £10,000 would run closer to £106 a year. Costs that are not on the price list

These do not show up when you sign up, but they show up on your statement.

  • Hidden cost: Fund and trading charges of about 0.14% on Original plans, or about 0.46% on Ethical plans, on top of the 0.6%
  • Hidden cost: The market spread between buying and selling prices, which Wealthify notes is not a direct charge but still costs you
  • Hidden cost: The fee is uncapped, so it scales with your portfolio while the service does not

What you are paying for

For uk investors who want someone else to pick and rebalance the funds, that is a fair price. Properly UK-focused, with Stocks and Shares ISAs, Junior ISAs and a personal pension. One simple 0.6% management fee, with no charges for deposits, withdrawals, transfers or closing a plan.

A five year total always looks large written down. Judge it against what the tool actually changes, not against the headline on its own.

Plans and tiers

This page is about the running total. For the tier structure and what each plan includes, see Wealthify pricing.

The same five years on Delphina

Delphina's Free plan is £0 for as long as you want it, no card. Wealth Builder is £9.99 a month, so five years is £599.40 if you stay on it the whole time, billed in pounds with no FX fee.

Wealthify actually invests your money, which Delphina does not do. If what you want is someone to run a portfolio, use them. Delphina is the planning layer on top: it models the ISA allowance, the pension and the tax, across everything you hold, including the Wealthify plan.

More on Wealthify

Wealthify: common questions

It is worth it for uk investors who want someone else to pick and rebalance the funds. It is a poor buy for anyone who needs percentage fees rise with your pot, so a larger portfolio pays more for the same service, because that is not what it is built to do.

A five year total is worth measuring against something

The point of paying for any of this is a better outcome. Delphina shows you what your pensions and ISAs are actually on course to do, so you can judge whether Wealthify is earning its fee.
